International OSINT CoE hosted a successful roundtable on the applications of AI in OSINT
OSINT CoE has organised a successful roundtable about scientific trends in the use of AI in OSINT
International Centre of Excellence for OSINT hosted a major roundtable discussion on Thursday, November 7th, 2024, in Zagreb, focusing on the latest scientific trends in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to collect, analyse and interpret security-relevant open-source data.In addition to expert representatives from all member states of the Centre, the event was attended by three eminent European scientists specializing in the research, development, and practical application of AI and machine learning. Dr. Frédérique Segond, Directress of the Defence and Security Mission of the French National Institute for Scientific Research and Digital Technologies (INRIA), Prof. Sven Lončarić, Head of the Centre for AI at Zagreb’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and Prof. Roberto Navigli, Head of the Natural Language Processing Department at the renowned Sapienza University of Rome, all made significant contributions to the success of the roundtable.
The aim of the roundtable was to facilitate an active exchange of experiences and knowledge between security experts and selected representatives of the academic community. In the near future, this exchange should result in the initiation of a series of international multilateral innovative projects under the auspices and leadership of the Centre, and concretely contribute to strengthening continental security. As planned, the event fostered a productive atmosphere where participants successfully defined several meaningful and feasible project ideas. In his closing remarks, the Centre's Director, Dr. Tomislav Dokman, expressed great satisfaction with the outcome of the roundtable and announced that this event, in parallel with the organic growth and intensification of the Centre's activities, could take the form of a multi-day thematic conference as early as next year.
