Department of Research and Analysis

The Department of Research and Analysis at the Centre of Excellence is a hub of OSINT knowledge on strategic, operational and tactical levels, designed to promote discussion and sharing of opinions utilizing scientific methodology, expert literature and case study analysis to increase the benefits of using open source content in the intelligence work and build the Centre’s knowledge base.

In addition, the Department addresses shortcoming in this area by providing actionable solutions. Given that the Centre’s primary goal is to enhance OSINT know-how and practices, partnering with academia ensures access to cutting edge insights obtained from studies of intelligence, information and technology.

In other words, this cooperation is aimed at identifying latest scientific trends and theoretical findings in OSINT but also shortcomings and ways to overcome them in developing this discipline, which the Centre then adapts to its specific needs.

As the academic community’s primary goals include publishing findings aimed at further developing a discipline, so does the Centre aim to use this cooperation to publish a scientific journal specialized in OSINT.

The journal would look at all the phenomena related to this discipline and its role in the current security environment and intelligence efforts but also at the indispensable role of automated open source data collection tools.

Once applied, these scientific efforts will contribute to developing all aspects of the OSINT discipline.

The Centre’s exchange of empirical and theoretical findings with the scientific community is crucial to furthering OSINT and to building mutual understanding.
